Lone Star In The Press
Check out the March 2008 issue ("the Music issue") of Rare Magazine, available for free in many restaurants, shops, offices, and generally hip locations around town (including the Lone Star lobby). Inside, you'll find an article called 'Your Very Own Musical Community', complete with artsy photos and an interview with Kurt. We're really happy with how the article turned out, and we'd love for you to see it! Keep an eye out for Rare Magazine around town, or you can go to the 'online magazine' page of their website, where you can download the full issue.
Also in the press, Akina Adderley, our resident voice instructor, is featured in an article in the Sunday, September 28, 2008 issue of the Statesman. The article concerns California transplants to Austin, their housing situations/aspirations, and thier contributions to the community. Check it out if you want to hear about Akina's band and her love of Austin, or see a picture of her dogs.

The Lone Star Master Class Series
If you have been to one of our hugely successful, heavily attended and boisterously raved about master classes, you know firsthand what a cool component the Lone Star Master Class Series is to what we do here. New York's own Geoff Hartwell kicked off the series with a stellar demonstration of his electric slide guitar stylings and gave everyone a peek into the styles of Elmore James, Duane Allman and Sonny Landreth! Joshua Zarbo - formerly the bassist for Spoon - offered an indepth bass workshop about how to write cool and catchy bass lines, playing techniques for different genres, and all things bass. Following that, Billy Bright of Two High String Band came in strong with a thorough examination of his mandolin techniques and authentic bluegrass style. Stay tuned for our next installment of the Lone Star Master Class Series - they are not to be missed!
